About Me

I’m Ro. I’m Deafblind. I Perform, I Write, I Overshare.

👋 Hey you!

Welcome to Deafblind Voice — the blog where chaos meets creativity, and I (Ro!) try to survive life one awkward, fabulous moment at a time.

I’m Deafblind, nonbinary, and permanently in a state of “what the actual hell is going on”, but somehow, I make it work. Sometimes with grace. Sometimes with snacks.

This isn’t just a blog. It’s my loud, weird, messy corner of the internet, where I share the good stuff, the gritty stuff, and all the bits in between. It’s a place where you get to see how hard it is for me to get through life — whether I’m performing or travelling (or casually eating a beetle.)

🌟 A little about me

I’m a Deafblind performer and writer who uses British Sign Language (BSL), a cochlear implant, and an unreasonable amount of snacks to get through the day.

I was born partially sighted and profoundly Deaf, and in 2022 I was officially diagnosed as Deafblind, with Dominant Optic Atrophy (DOA) Type 1 and Nystagmus. Add in a little anxiety, a lot of sarcasm, and a soft spot for music and travels, and voilà — you get me.

I have a Deaf twin and a Deaf parent, so signing is part of my everyday life.

When I’m not writing or performing, I’m probably overthinking something minor or singing to my stuffed toys.

🎤 Why this blog?

Because life as a Deafblind person is funny, hard, weird, beautiful, and messy and I needed somewhere to talk about all of it. This blog started as a travel thing, but now it’s bigger than that.

It’s a home for everything: BSL performances, disability rage, queer joy, mental health spirals, and snack-based survival.

It’s where I share my thoughts, my stories, and my full unfiltered self , because let’s be real, there aren’t enough places that let us be complicated and loud without apologising.

If you’re here to laugh, learn, cry, or just vibe — welcome 🥰 You belong here too.
